San Vito al Tagliamento, June 2003 - Between frescoed walls of Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Battuti in San Vito al Tagliamento, LU Murano presents its creations to public for first time during Vitraria 2003, international glass art exhibition.
Work attracting visitors' and critics' attention is chandelier with sinuous forms, completely transparent, integrating with church's sacred architecture. Transparency choice allows altar frescoes to remain visible, whilst Murano glass creation adds contemporary luminous element.
Vitraria 2003 takes place in San Vito al Tagliamento, municipality in Friuli Venezia Giulia with long tradition in glass art. International event gathers master glassmakers, collectors and scholars from across Europe.
For Maestro Fabio Fornasier, this exhibition marks first public presentation of LU Murano creations. Choice of Vitraria as initial stage highlights event importance in international artistic glass panorama.
Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Battuti offers particular setting for installation. Historic frescoes and sacred architecture create context valorising both ancient art and contemporary creation. Transparent chandelier fits into space without competing with pre-existing works.
Each chandelier element is hand-blown and shaped by grand fire, following techniques characterising Murano craftsmanship. Main innovation resides in lighting: red oil feeds gentle flames creating variable light effects.
Flames react to environment movements, creating mobile shadows on frescoes and transforming church space. This technical solution unites traditional oil lighting with contemporary blown glass forms.
Visitors to Vitraria 2003 observe object being simultaneously sculpture and light source. Chandelier is not simple furnishing complement, but element interacting with architectural space.
First presentation at Vitraria 2003 establishes LU Murano identity: capacity to combine glassmaking tradition and contemporary vision. Maestro Fornasier uses ancestral blown glass techniques to create pieces responding to current aesthetic needs.
Chandelier's total transparency is design choice allowing work to integrate in different contexts. Oil lighting with mobile flames adds performative dimension to illumination.
This approach defines artistic path LU Murano will develop in following years: creations honouring Venetian craftsmanship whilst exploring contemporary expressive possibilities.
Vitraria 2003 marks beginning of LU Murano public journey in international glass art panorama. Maestro Fabio Fornasier's creativity finds in Murano tradition foundation for artistic explorations characterising brand in following years.
