Private Dolomites chalet

The private chalet in the UNESCO Dolomites represents excellence in luxury alpine living, set within a natural landscape recognised as a world heritage site. This Dolomite residence selected LU Murano to illuminate its spaces with a solution uniting Venetian glass-making tradition and alpine mountain identity.

UNESCO Dolomites chalet design challenge for traditional mountain architecture

The family owners sought a lighting solution capable of enhancing the mountain architecture in oak wood without compromising the environments' authenticity. The design challenge required a chandelier dialoguing with the chalet's traditional materials, integrating Italian artisanal excellence and respect for Dolomite identity.

The installation also needed to respond to the warm atmospheres typical of alpine living, where lighting favours soft, natural illumination enhancing local woods and the contained ceiling heights of mountain dwellings.

cLUb chandelier 44 lights pulegoso glass and oak for alpine environments

Master glassmaker Fabio Fornasier developed a customised version of the cLUb chandelier with 44 lights specific for the Dolomite environment. The configuration utilises hand-blown transparent pulegoso glass from Murano's furnaces, combined with an alpine oak base creating visual continuity with the chalet's architecture. The pulegoso glass diffuses light uniformly, guaranteeing soft illumination across surfaces up to 35 square metres. The solid wood base is not merely an aesthetic element, but a technical solution anchoring the chandelier to mountain architecture, weighing 18 kg and offering stability in environments with ceiling heights between 2.8 and 3.5 metres typical of chalets.

Venetian glass-making excellence in prestigious alpine architecture

The installation of the customised cLUb chandelier transforms the chalet into an environment where Murano glass-making tradition and mountain identity dialogue harmoniously. Master Fornasier's project demonstrates LU Murano's capability to adapt to specific architectural contexts whilst maintaining Italian artisanal excellence. The combination of Murano glass and alpine oak celebrates the encounter between two Italian territorial excellences, conferring distinctive identity to the chalet within the luxury Dolomite residences landscape.
